Here is my entry:
ELLA’S WILD RIDE (WC 150)
By Michelle S. Kennedy
It began when a mermaid named Ella,
was drawn to a voice, acapella.
And filled with emotion,
while searching the ocean—
was seized by Miss Poppin’s umbrella!
March winds and the current were strong,
and something went terribly wrong.
Her tail caught the handle—
becoming a scandal…
The umbrella just dragged her along...
“Miss Poppins, please HELP!” Ella cried.
From shore, Mary quickly replied:
“To set yourself free,
and get brolly to me,
we’ll sing for some friends to help guide.”
Together their voices rang out,
alerting some dolphins enroute.
They circled and shifted.
The handle was lifted.
“I’m loose!” came a jubilant shout.
Ker-SPLASH and ker-SPLISH and ker-SPLOOSH!
The umbrella took off in a WHOOSH!
All clear in the skies,
fins fluttered goodbyes,
while whirly waves whispered, Shoosh-shoosh.
Miss Poppins retrieved her umbrella.
Newly inspired by Ella,
“Toodles for now! Today I avow:
I’m writing your book—
a novella!”
