HUMPY DUMPTY'S EGGS-CELLENT VALENTINE'S DAY (WC 212)
By Michelle S. Kennedy
On Valentine’s Day, when the hearts overflow,
Humpty sat high, with his head hanging low.
While others eggs-changed Valentines with a flurry,
he perched on his wall, feeling nothing but worry.
He watched the king’s horsemen all pridefully prance,
woo with their music and playfully dance.
“With courage like theirs, I would be of good cheer,
but eggs-pressions of fondness infuse me with fear!”
Inhaling the flowers (their scents filled the air),
he thought of his fall and drooped down in despair.
“My shell’s held together with putty and tape...
Will anyone love me? I’m all out of shape!”
“Oh Cupid, where are you?” He desperately prayed.
I need your assistance—my heart is sauteed!”
Poor Humpty felt fragile, the stress was eggs-hausting.
And then… She strolled by…
Deviled.
With frosting!!!
“Hi Humpty!” she said. And she gave him a card.
His eggs-pression was shell shock. She’d caught him off-guard.
“Will you be my Valentine, egg of my dreams?!
You’re eggs-actly my type!”
Humpty straightened his seams.
Down from the wall, they rolled out to the park,
with gaggles of giggles igniting their spark.
The way that they scrambled was hard to ignore.
Humpty felt happy. He worried no more.
Life’s been sunny-side-up since Valentine’s Day.
They were equally yoked...in every way!
